Quarterback

When I signed up for the Football team I was told to bring knee pads and a helmet. I wasn't that stupid ... I didn't buy a helmet :-) I asked Mahbod the rules as we lined up on the field. "Stand here till I get the ball, then run and if I call your name ... catch it!".

This weekend I got to Quarterback our entire game since we only had five girls and one guy for the game. This is Asha's play by play account. Even though we lost it was the most fun I have had playing Football.

Our team of six took the field against a team of around 15, including at least 6 guys. Jen was the designated Quarterback. We started with the ball.

Play 1 – Jen passes to Jake.

Play 2 – Jen passes to Steph – 1^st down

The other team is now getting a bit scared.

Play 3 – incomplete – the cones in the end zone are confusing and the ball is thrown out of bounds.

Play 4 – Jen to Michelle

Play 5 – Jen to Jake – TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!

We are in shock - our first drive is a touchdown. We miss the extra point but are happy.

The game continue and we score a couple more touchdowns. They score more as it is tough for a team with 5 girls and one guy to guard a team of 5 guys and 3 girls.

I think the final score was 34-18, I might be wrong though. It was a tough game, the refs were impressed - it was a blast and we were exhausted. Jen has my vote for game MVP – she QB’d all but 3 plays and has come along way from kneepads and helmets.

I am trying to convince more people to get involved in sports for fun. Zogsports is also for charity so even more reason to play! It is just challenging yourself to getting through the excuse "I don't have time" and you never know what will happen and who you might meet :)
