On running

The New York City Marathon takes place this weekend and I have made up my mind to run it next year. So many of the stories are motivational, people running for a cause, people running with a disability, people running simply because they want to believe that they can do something remarkable.

Running for 26.1 miles is an incredible feat. I have thought about running for four hours straight - the mental and physical barriers you have to get through, it is a real symbol of human strength. I know some people think it is crazy and that's ok ... running isn't for everyone but I have realized it is for me. I started running again this week and I love it. It is time away from the world where I can be alone and focused on achieving one thing ... getting to the end.

I think running is a great thing, you get to focus and think of things you don't have the time for. You also get to see you can go something and challenge yourself for...
I think you should work on it, it needs alot of energy though

I'm completely inspired by marathon runners. My cousin just finished the one in Chicago and was done in 3hrs. How amazing. Good luck with training! I hope to be in NY next yr to cheer you on.

Wow, hope you'll get a spot to run! I heard it's quite competitive to get a number for the NYC marathon.

One could say I just don't want to tackle my inner lazyness and don't challenge myself enough. But I hate running, I would much rather cycle or swim. ;-)

Good luck! I'll come cheer for you when you run next year!

for training,

1. Do your first run a 10 mile one. Run, walk and crawl but do finish the distance.

2. The subsquent run would get easier.

3. All you need to train is to complete a 18 miles run. Beyond 18 miles is a "wall zone" - some people can keep running in these last 8 miles but a lot of people switched to walking.

4. Marathon training is harder than the marathon itself.

5. Marathon is definitely not fun, but after you finish one, you will feel nothing you can't do.
